Many people, including myself are starting to look forward to the world cup of football. The question many people are asking is who is likely to win the tournament? In this article, I give my own viewpoint on this subject and discuss some of the likely contenders (teams) who could win.

The world cup finals are being held in Germany and it promises to be a very exciting and entertaining event. The tournament which only takes place every four years is in my opinion the biggest sporting event which takes place. It means everything to all of the players taking part as well as to the supporters.

Potential winners of the football world cup

Germany

The hosts Germany are always a big threat in the world cup and have an outstanding record in the tournament. The team seems to peak at just the right time and as they are playing on home soil, they must have a great chance. I personally believe though that Germany will be knocked out in the quarter finals. I think that their best player is Micheal Ballack.

France

The French team have had an outstanding decade and still boast some of the best players in the world. Players like Henry can turn a game in an instant and he is just one of a few I could mention.

France should do well but I do not believe have enough to win the tournament.

Holland

I must say that Holland are one team which I love to watch playing football. They approach the game in the right way and their supporters make it a very colourful occasion.

Despite having many top players, Holland always seem to flatter to deceive and this could well be the case this year.

If my home team of England does not win the world cup, I would love to see the Dutch lift the trophy.

Spain

Spain in a way are very much like Holland in that they always seem to fall short despite having many superb players.

On their day the Spanish team can beat the best in the world and should come close this year.

I personally believe that Spain will be knocked out in a penalty shoot out, this is what normally happens to them.

Portugal

After just failing to win the European football championship, Portugal with their Brazilian manager Scolari will be hoping to go one better in the world cup. It came as quite a shock when Greece beat them in the Final two years ago and this defeat might play on their minds when the pressure is on.

England

Being from England myself, I am obviously hoping that my home nation can lift the trophy for the first time since 1966.

England certainly have enough talent in the team but something always seems to go wrong.

Wayne Rooney has the potential of being the best player at the world cup and if he can stay fit, England will have a great chance.

I personally believe that the English will be eliminated in the semi-finals.

Italy

The Italians have a number of superb footballers but my only concern for them is that they do not always play as a team.

I believe that they should have won a lot more tournaments over the last twenty years and I do not think that they will win this year either.

Brazil

Brazil are by far and away the best team in the tournament. This is my tip for the team which should win the Fifa world cup.

To win the tournament you require something a little bit special and Brazil certainly have that.

The only way I can see them not winning is if they have a bad run of injuries or a series of red cards. Both of these are highly unlikely.

I hope you all enjoy watching the world cup as much as I will, so lets sit back and enjoy this summer of football.

Oilsands production is very capital intensive and requires ideal market conditions to render them appealing to investors. Regardless of world supply depletions, increases in world demand, or size of Alberta’s reserves, market price is what will plot the future of oilsands development and production. Thus the only item holding the emergence of oilsands ‘dominance’ on the world market is the level of output and dependence on market price. What do we experience today? (2006) Record crude oil prices with no indications they will relent. Supply is tight and OPEC is happy with this state. If Alberta and oilsands are to have any substantial impact on the world stage they must increase technology (reducing costs) and production (increasing volume).

Three essential items are required for successful integration of oilsands products into the world market. Firstly, oilsands producers need to increase production technology to reduce lifting costs. Attributed to costs is the ability for producers to locate dedicated and cost efficient transportation methods to place their product on the world market. The second item will hinge upon the world price of oil. Currently the oilsands developers are price takers. It is imperative that a costly venture such as oilsands production continue to exploit a high world oil market price to justify their production and expansion. Current market conditions, the high market price for crude, make for an ideal setting for expansion and development. Expanding technology will reduce costs of production thereby shielding producers from lower market prices and increasing their overall productivity. A strong and predictable price will provide the foundation for continual expansion of oilsands production, and thus building Alberta’s position in the world market. The last item depends on both technology and price-that is the quantity of output. Currently, Alberta produces approximately 352 million barrels of crude oil a year from the bitumen reserves. The current production volume is not enough to have even a minimal impact on OPEC’s world market share. If the entire volume from 2003 output was exported to the United States market, this would account for less than 30 days worth of their yearly imports. Although this may be a large quantity, the potential is greater still.

Something’s happened to your friends. It’s been slow in coming, and it’s taken you a while to notice, but something is definitely wrong. You used to be able to plan lunches or dinners or weekend get-togethers, but now your friends are always? unavailable. Even after you had your child, you swore that parenthood wouldn’t stop you from preserving those relationships, that you’d be close to your friends, forever.

So, what is it? You’ve kept your promise, but they’re the ones who never seem to have the time. It’s starting to feel like they’re actually avoiding you; it’s making you paranoid. Is your deodorant failing?

The saddest part, of course, is that they’re the ones, missing out. They were so happy for you, when you had your child, so anxious to hear about all the miracles that each day brought you. Now, when you’re brimming with stories about your amazing, talented, beautiful, perfect child-and you have hundreds of pictures-they can’t even make time for coffee!

What’s wrong with these people? Maybe they’ve had too much of a good thing.

First-time parents-no matter how they’ve prepared themselves-are always surprised at the depth of the emotions brought on by the birth of a child. You can’t plan for the psychological impact caused by the miracle of your child’s birth. Each following day, you’re filled with awe, watching your child grow from a helpless infant to a toddler with a unique personality. You naturally want to share your joy with everyone you know.

And your friends are happy for you-they really are. They do want to know about your adventures in parenting. It’s just that, sometimes (as crazy as this may sound to you), they think there are other things, like their lives, to talk about.

Believe it or not, your friends with kids older than yours (especially those with multiple kids) have probably gotten past the whole “miracle” thing, and have settled into a more stoic “one day at a time, Lord” attitude toward parenting and family. They understand what you’re experiencing, and don’t necessarily want to re-live every moment of it through you, to the exclusion of every other topic of conversation.

And, secretly, your childless friends are afraid of committing a serious crime, if you give them the old “I didn’t know what being a woman was all about until I became a mother” speech, one more time-no matter how sincerely you mean it.

No one expects you to be nonchalant about your child. On the other hand, no one else can be as involved in your child as you. And no other relationship, outside of the one with your spouse, can be as important to you. But just because you’re a parent, now, doesn’t mean you should learn to live without other adult friends in your life. You need them, and your child needs to see you, relating to your friends, as a model for his own friendships.

Make the effort one more time. Plan lunch with a friend or an after-work coffee meeting. Let her lead the conversation-and be interested in her life. As hard as it may be, let her bring up the subject of your child.

Choose one special story to tell, that summarizes your feelings about your child and his growth. Take three or four pictures, not the whole album. Your friends will be happy to welcome you back.

Once you are taking it for a test drive you will see if this is the right car for your or not. You will want to test the power of the used car and make sure that all the options and features in the car are in proper working order. If you do see something that you are not sure of, you should ask about it. If it is broken, this may be a good reason to walk away from the car or you can ask for the dealership or owner to fix it or to give you a price break on it.

Then you need to watch out for the dealer. You should ask around what some people think about the dealer and see if the feedback is encouraging or not. Then you can always get their rating at the BBB and see how many complaints where put in about the dealer and then you can decide rather or not you would like to push through with the deal.
